We Went To One of The Most Anticipated Design Fairs of The Year.
What Are Our Thoughts on Heimtextil 2026

One of the most awaited moments of the year in interior design and trends just happened – and we come here to share our thoughts. Heimtextil is the leading trade fair where dream-makers and inspiration-seekers meet to turn imagination into reality. In this year’s edition, the subject that is on everyone’s tongue is being put in the spotlight: Artificial Intelligence.

Artificial and human intelligence: Heimtextil 2026 Theme

AI has been present in our lives in recent years in the form of multiple platforms, the most known being ChatGPT. Always there with solutions for our mundane problems, it has been widely used as a creative tool with unlimited power. Generating memes or campaign-worthy visuals was the first purpose. But it has gone further than laughs and giggles. In the realm of design, people have been putting it to use when looking for new décor or style. And with the focus on technology solving our every problem, many started to wonder what will happen with humanity and its core values.
This question is the exact subject this edition of Heimtextil is addressing: how this is actually an encouragement to bring tradition back and create a mixed medium with automated intelligence. A blur between perfection and human error, where we can celebrate both within the same space. This year’s theme, “Craft is a verb”, distils the essence of working in harmony to bring the new forward and not isolate AI in a corner.

Trends and colors of Heimtextil 2026

The trends and color palette created in collaboration with Alcova did not fail to amaze and provoke us to see things from all the possible perspectives:

Re: Media – materializing the dialogue between digital and analogue media by turning digital renderings into jacquards and embroideries
Visible co-work – hybrid work between machine and human to create a new concept
Sensing nature – decoded structures found in nature and transposed into textiles
A playful touch – added elements which have a sole purpose to please the eyes
Crafted irregularity – the beautiful messy touches that make a piece unique
The uncanny valley – visible details that appear strangely charming and out-of-this-world
The color palette further illustrates the mix between humans and technology: earth-tones of olive and clay together with uncomfortable shades of acid green and screen light blue.

Our take

Our visit to the Heimtextil 26 / 27 edition opened our eyes to new concepts. Learning that instead of completely rejecting digital world and finding it as a universal fault, working together in balance is the key. To create a greater good by leaning into the craftsmanship we posses and take pride in while giving technology a set role will help us achieve our goals. Not only as a company, but also as a part of the world.
